U.S. Armed Forces Education Tuition Assistance / Financial Aid

Under the GI Bill and other programs, eligible members of the U.S. Armed Forces are able to take advantage of Tuition Assistance programs that may cover up to 100% of their tuition expenses. This benefit applies to members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines. Each branch of the Armed Forces has its own process and eligibility requirements. In most instances the student works with their chosen academic institution and the relevant Armed Forces office to enroll and have tuition payment sent directly to in the college. Below is an overview of potential benefits:


  • Air Force: up to 100% of tuition and fees may be covered. However, this not to exceed $250 per credit hour, $166 per quarter credit hour and $4500 per fiscal year. Fees that are covered include tuition, lab fees, enrollment fees, special fees, and computer fees. Both Active duty and reserves are eligible.
  • Army: up to 100% of tuition and fees may be covered. However, this not to exceed $250 per credit hour, $166 per quarter credit hour and $4500 per fiscal year. Fees that are covered include tuition, lab fees, enrollment fees, special fees, and computer fees. Active duty, ARNG on Active duty and Army reserves are eligible.
  • Navy: up to 100% of tuition and fees may be covered. However, this not to exceed $250 per credit hour, $166 per quarter credit hour and 16 semester hours per fiscal year. Fees that are covered include tuition, lab fees, enrollment fees, special fees, and computer fees. Active duty and Naval reserves on AD status are eligible.
  • Marines: up to 100% of tuition and fees may be covered. However, this not to exceed $250 per credit hour, $166 per quarter credit hour and $4500 per fiscal year. Fees that are covered include tuition, lab fees, enrollment fees, special fees, and computer fees. Only Active duty is eligible.
  • Coast Guard: up to 100% of tuition and fees may be covered. However, this not to exceed $250 per credit hour, $166 per quarter credit hour and $4500 per fiscal year. Fees that are covered include tuition and lab fees. Active duty, Selective Reserve and Civilian Employees are eligible.
